Step 1: Develop a morning routine
Invigorate your skin and prepare it for the day ahead. First, clean away any dirt or oil that’s built up overnight. Then, rub a hydrating serum into your face and neck. This will work with your moisturiser to keep your skin intensely hydrated. After the serum has had time to absorb, smooth your moisturiser over the top until there’s no trace of the product left on your face.
If you have areas of dehydrated-looking skin around your eyes, use a moisturising eye balm. The skin around your eyes is more delicate than the rest of your face, so it needs a specialist product.
Step 2: Use a brightening concealer
To achieve that all-day glow, cover the appearance of redness, dark areas, scars or blemishes. Choose a good concealer that’s exactly right for your skin tone. It’s a good idea to use subtly different shades of concealer – one lighter, one darker – depending on which area of your face you’re concealing.
Apply your concealer right after your foundation or BB cream, so you can blend them together. Dab it carefully onto your face with your fingers, smoothing in with soft motions. If you struggle to get enough coverage, try using a concealer with a higher pigmentation.
Afterwards, set the concealer with a light powder. This will help preserve your glowing complexion.
Step 3: Stay hydrated
Skin can become dry through the day, especially during the colder months. Carry your moisturiser with you and reapply as soon as your skin begins to feel tight. Add a hydrating lip balm to stop your lips drying out, too.
Step 4: Cleanse, tone and moisturise
In the evening, cleanse away your make-up and revive your skin with a toner. Choose a gentle cleanser that won’t dry or irritate your face. If you have sensitive skin, avoid using very hot water, too, as it can make you feel itchy and sore. Toner helps close your pores after cleansing. If you have large pores, a good toner can help them appear smaller. Reapply moisturiser after toner for smoothened, softened skin.
Step 5: Nourish overnight
Using an advanced night treatment will help your skin appear fresh and plumped in the morning. It works while you sleep, banishing dryness and nourishing your skin with moisture to help your skin’s glow.
Before you go to bed, smooth a generous amount of night cream into your face and neck, paying special attention to problem areas. You don’t need to worry too much about absorption, as it’s designed to sink in slowly overnight.
