Vitamin C FAQs: Your questions answered

What are the main benefits of vitamin C and why is it so good?

“Vitamin C is a great ingredient which does a number of things on your skin,” says Vichy Expert, Dr Anjali Mahto, Consultant Dermatologist. “It boosts cell metabolism and cell repair while improving collagen synthesis and skin elasticity. It also acts as an antioxidant and reduces damage that is caused by free radicals found in the environment”.

Will I see instant results?

Yes. Vitamin C is a true multitasking active ingredient and it penetrates deep into the layers of the epidermis. This means it works quickly to reduce fine lines, even out the complexion and boost radiance.

What are the particular types of Vitamin C we should look out for?

“The pure form of Vitamin C found in skincare is called L’absorbic Acid,” says Dr Anjali. “The great thing about the Vichy product is that a contains a very high concentration of 15% of Vitamin C. This range of concentration will provide good, visible results on the skin”.

When is the best time to use a product such as Vichy’s Liftactiv Brightening Corrector?

“Vitamin C is a brilliant topical skincare ingredient as it helps brighten the skin and reduces pigmentation,” advises Dr Anjali. “I’d advise using the LiftActiv Vitamin C Brightening Corrector before a big event or whenever you need rested looking skin in less than two weeks”.

Why is Vichy’s Liftactiv Brightening Corrector designed as a 10-day treatment?

Vitamin C is a fragile antioxidant that degrades quickly when exposed to oxygen, water or heat. So, if you use a vitamin C serum, for example, its potency starts to decrease as soon as you open the lid. Vichy’s Liftactiv Brightening Corrector is designed to be used when the vitamin C is at its most potent and powerful.

Where should vitamin C be used within your skincare routine?

A product such as Liftactiv’s Vitamin C Brightening Corrector should be applied after cleansing. Apply 4 to 5 drops to the face using the convenient dropper and gently massage into the skin. Follow with your usual moisturiser and broad-spectrum sun protection.
