Here’s a look at some of the cleansing options available, and our suggestions of what to use, and when
You might be feeling a little overwhelmed with the huge range of cleansing products available these days – and with oils, washes, creams, waters and gels vying for your attention, it’s hardly surprising.
Here’s our guide on what cleanser to use and when.
Those weekday mornings can be a scramble. Between breakfast, showering, dressing and getting the household rounded up to leave for work or school, you might not have much time for your skincare routine. To save some precious minutes, grab a micellar water. It will cleanse your skin thoroughly and gently, and there’s no need to rinse. It’s also a great way to perk up your senses for the day ahead.
Got a few hours to yourself and fancy an at-home pampering session? Lucky you! Now’s the perfect time to use a cleansing oil, or micellar oil. The smooth, silky texture makes it ideal for a bit of light facial massage. Apply the oil cleanser all over your face, then gently massage your skin, working from the jawline upwards with gentle strokes, then working from the centre of the face outwards. When you feel relaxed and glowing, you can add water to transform your cleansing micellar oil into a milky lotion that will rinse away easily
It’s the end of a big day or evening out, and you’ve got to remove your cosmetic masterpiece. If you’ve used dramatic colours, or waterproof mascara, eyeliner or eyeshadow, you’ll need something to remove it all quickly and effectively without the need to scrub or repeatedly wipe your skin. An oil-based bi-phase eye makeup remover is the ideal choice here. Choose one formulated for sensitive eyes for even more care and comfort.
Skin feeling clogged or greasy? Try an exfoliating cleansing gel. The light gel texture will freshen your skin, while exfoliating micro-particles work to unclog pores and dislodge impurities without drying or stripping your skin of its natural oils.
Sensitive skin can show the effects of your external environment. Excess sebum, discomfort and skin which feels irritated can all be experienced by sensitive skin. Sensitive skin can also feel tight and uncomfortable after water based cleansing. Using an anti-pollution cleansing gel helps to soothe the feeling of sensitive skin while removing impurities.
